BGSA GOLF

Competitions, tours and series

Which one do I need?

BGSA Caddy runs your golf three ways. A competition is the organiser's event, one to three days. A tour is buddies away for a few days. A series is a club or group season of games. All three start from the Events screen in the app.

Three kinds, one screen

  • The organiser's event

    Competition

One to three days, in any of the 36 formats. You add the players, set the groups and tees, and share one code. The leaderboard fills in hole by hole as the groups score: each day's board, the overall result, and Net and Gross tables over all the days. Split the field into divisions by handicap, each with its own winner. Longest drive and nearest pin each day.

    Pick this for

    • A club competition
    • A corporate or charity day
    • A big open day

  • Buddies away, a few days

    Tour

Start it with a name. One player list, set once, used for every day. Each day has its own course, date and format. The order of merit adds the days up by itself in Net and Gross Stableford points; you can let only the best days count. Longest drive and nearest pin each day and for the week, most birdies, best round and the wooden spoon.

  • A season of games

    Series

Start it with a name and pick how the order of merit counts: points for your finishing place in each game (1st 100, 2nd 80, 3rd 65 ...), or every game's Stableford points added up. Net and Gross tables beside it, the best games counting if you choose, and an eclectic over the home course: your best score on every hole all season. Longest drive and nearest pin each game and for the season, fun stats and the wooden spoon.

    Pick this for

    • A club's monthly medal
    • A society's year
    • A weekly league

How they fit together

Each stands on its own. One player list and one order of merit for a tour or a series; a competition needs neither.

Series: one player list, order of merit, eclectic

  • Game 1
  • Game 2
  • Game 3

Each game: its own date, course and format

Tour: the same, over a few days away

Competition: the organiser's event, on its own

If you are playing

  1. 01

    Enter the code

The organiser sends you a code. Open Events and type it in the code box. If the organiser has your email, your event is already there: one tap on Join.

  2. 02

    Tap Start

Your group, tee, handicap and format come up as the organiser set them. Nothing to fill in.

  3. 03

    Score and follow

One phone scores the whole group. Every saved hole goes to the leaderboard, and with no signal it is kept on the phone and sent later.

Playing in a competition is free.

If you are organising

  • Add your players once: type them in, paste a list, or tick them from the players you have used before.
  • Set the groups, tees and handicaps before the day, so the right names come up on each phone.
  • Invite your players by email and app message, with the code in the invite.
  • Share the leaderboard link. Anybody can open it, at home or on the clubhouse TV, without the app.
  • Put your sponsors on the clubhouse TV: their logos, your pictures and clips play between the leaderboard. Set it on the organiser console.
  • Prefer a big screen? The organiser console on this website does the same from a computer.

Get the app, open Events, and your first competition is a few taps away.
